Power of Words

We live in a time when many are awake and aware that the words we speak are powerful. Not only are the words we speak powerful but, the meanings we attach to those words.

Through the clearing abilities of energy work I uncovered a meaning that I had attached to the word “details”, it was the word “stress.” As a four year old I was excited for my birthday. My wonderful Mother was full of worry and anxiety to get everything done perfectly. On this day, the word “details” imprinted on me.  For many years, I had the belief that the way to handle details was to worry, and that this meant it would also be stressful. So for years I avoided the details/stress like I would the plague. The Universe kept bringing opportunities for me to find the truth, and to overcome this false belief.

Due to our life experiences, we often unknowingly attach meanings to words. We each have very different experiences, therefore we have very different perspectives and meanings we create.
It was in 1582 when a list of 8000 non-alphabetical words were first created by Richard Mulcaster. (Before those days, I may have been considered a very good speller:) We see that with time people understood the importance behind spelling words and giving them definition that could be agreed upon.
I think we all agree that the meaning we attach to our words can be powerful.
Today a word that we hear often in the energy and self-development community is the word “Universe.” In my studies, it became very important the meaning I was giving to it.  So here I am writing about it. I began by writing down the meaning of this word to me, and then went on the computer to the Merriam-Webster. Here are my definitions followed by the dictionary:
  1. Growing up: my understanding of the word Universe was – Everything in our world including outer space.
  2. Working in the self-development field: the word Universe to me, was a way for the presenter to mean God without overusing His name, or offending anyone with different beliefs.
  3. Today: the meaning is a way of describing all that supports our experience here on earth. For me this is God, My Heavenly Father and my Heavenly Mother who created my spiritual body, it is Jesus Christ the Creator and light of this world, all creation including my physical body, all power including that which we have been given, and everything that supports and empowers us for this life experience.

I would love to finish off by sharing the power of the meaning I had given to the word details… I developed unique skills in keeping things simple. I became very creative with it. And as these talents developed to a point that the meaning no longer served me well I learned that details can also be fun, exciting and make things super special! Details do not have to be stressful. By refining this meaning in my life I am currently growing in my attention to detail.

Let us use the meaning that we give to our words as a powerful tool for creating more of what we want .
